Ibrahim Mahama: ‘The Harvest Season’ — A Ruined Ghanaian Bottle Factory Rebuilt Inside the Fondation Cartier

Ghanaian artist Ibrahim Mahama bought a derelict bottle factory in 2024 and has reassembled it in Paris, its rusted steel roof beams rising over walls stacked with thousands of green bottles in old soft-drink crates — a whole post-independence history of West African manufacturing salvaged rather than left to rot. Around it, Mahama hands most of the show to the artists from the three art centres he runs near Tamale, from red-earth clay walls by Courage Dzidula Kpodo to chocolate sculptures by the Congolese Plantation Workers Art League, sold to buy back land taken by Lever Brothers. The Harvest Season runs at the Fondation Cartier until 28 February. Source: The Guardian
