Pia Hinz: Industrial Tools Reborn in Stained Glass

French artist Pia Hinz transforms the tools of labor — hammers, traffic cones, scythes, tractor doors — into delicate stained glass objects, subverting material expectation entirely. By replacing functional hardness with fragility, each piece emerges antithetical to its original form: light passes through and spills color across surrounding space, rewriting the object’s relationship to its environment. A permanent stained glass monument for a Paris building is currently in progress. Source: Colossal
