Across three courts in central Pittsburgh, artist Sharmistha Ray turns the humble pickleball court into a canvas for large-scale abstraction. Titled ‘Geometry of Play,’ the murals are the first artist-designed pickleball courts in the country, translating Ray’s vivid geometric compositions onto a playable surface. The work draws on the artist’s long-standing interest in belonging, queer identity, and the inheritance of multiple cultures.
