Niklas Roy's pendulum clock built from trash

Niklas Roy: The Glashütte Trash Clock — A Working Pendulum Clock Made from Scraps

During a residency in Glashütte, the Saxon town synonymous with precision German watchmaking, Berlin artist and inventor Niklas Roy set out to build “the opposite”: a functioning pendulum clock made entirely from tape, zip ties, hot glue, cardboard, a yardstick and other scavenged local trash. It runs for about half an hour, with a paperclip escapement, a glass-bottle gong and a “random complication” that answers the question “Now or Never?” — a playful jab at the idea that time is steady and predictable.
