Since 1998, Japanese artist Fumiaki Aono has revitalised discarded furniture — dressers, chests, and cabinets — stacking them into towering assemblages. Converted drawers become apartment buildings whose tiny tenants lean from windows, while box trucks, bicycles, and other everyday objects emerge from the wooden furnishings in his constructed miniature scenes.
