Twelve international designers — including Bethan Laura Wood, Fernando Laposse, and Marcin Rusak — collaborated with Uzbek artisans to create works exploring cultural memory, ecology, and loss in Karakalpakstan’s rapidly changing landscape. The exhibition, on show at Palazzo Citterio during Milan Design Week 2026, weaves traditional materials like silk, ceramic, felt, and reed into a contemporary meditation on the Aral Sea’s disappearance. A deconstructed yurt by wHY Architecture anchors the garden, built from fine lattice and translucent skin, glowing at night as a gathering place for cultural exchange. Source: Wallpaper*
