Manuel Bano: Steel, Brass and Hand-Hammered Recycled Copper at PAD London

Mexico City-based designer Manuel Bano’s OBJ series began as a pandemic constraint — a friend’s laser cutter was the only machine he could reach — and has grown from a single table lamp into lighting, seating and tables in stainless steel, brass and oxidised steel. His newest pieces were made in Santa Clara del Cobre, a town of around 250 hand-hammering workshops with roots in Purépecha copperwork, where he worked with artisan Raúl Rauda to cut, stretch and hammer recycled copper into a dining table and cabinet. He shows with Objects with Narratives at PAD London, 13–18 October. Source: Wallpaper*
