Clio Sze To paints the way she walks: setting out through Paris without an agenda and letting the route find itself, watching for patterns and textures rather than landmarks. The photographs she takes on those walks become raw material back in the studio, recombined into stylised composites rather than transcribed. In her forthcoming show Échos, the resulting oils hold onto the dappled light and hazy shadow of an hour spent on foot, passersby included.
