In a practice she calls “ceramic collage,” Seattle-based artist Debra Broz cuts apart secondhand figurines and kitsch décor, then reassembles the fragments into playful hybrid creatures. Her ongoing Superorganisms series toys with the boundary between the familiar and the uncanny, imagining how these reconfigured objects might move and behave if they were alive.
