Kanon Foundry’s Clippy: A 1973 Mecanorma Typeface Rebuilt Across Fifteen Styles

Tor Weibull found Ad Werner’s Paperclip Contour on a Drifters record sleeve and was taken by its modular logic — but the outline-only forms and missing uppercase left it stranded in print. Clippy is his reinterpretation for Kanon Foundry: filled letterforms, a full set of capitals, fewer diagonals and optical corrections tuned for screen. The variable font moves between Retalic, Roman and Italic across fifteen styles, with mid-weights that nod to E13B and CNC engraving.
