A decade ago loom bands were a children’s craze that ended up under the sofa cushions. Hannah Beuchler has turned the small rubber bands into a painting material, looping them across wool and felt grounds so that from a distance the works read as gestural, expressionist canvases. Up close the illusion collapses into thousands of individual plastic loops.
