Hew Locke’s solo show at P·P·O·W suspends a fleet of miniature vessels from the gallery ceiling, from tankers and fishing boats to towering 16th-century galleons. Returning to his Odyssey series, Locke embellishes each craft with small cargoes and figures that trace how people, capital and ideas have moved across the globe. The flotilla refuses a single era or point on a map, holding the long reach of colonialism in one room.
