Sungho Bae builds his sculptures from stuffed animals pulled out of waste-disposal sites, then binds them with leather offcuts, bird feathers, taxidermy glass eyes, decommissioned ritual objects and terracotta. Works like “Dansu” (2026), mounted on an aged solid-wood baduk board, hold the tension between the childhood guardian and the thing that keeps you awake. The result is objects that read as protective and menacing at the same time — comfort toys reassembled into something closer to a fetish.
