After her father died, Copenhagen-based illustrator and designer Radhika Chitalia found his expired passport still tucked away, and rather than throw it out she began painting every page in gouache — over the visas, the immigration stamps and the blank leaves alike. Her wider practice draws on natural pigments and motifs from Indian folk traditions, and here that vocabulary turns a bureaucratic document into a record of a life and its crossings. The passport becomes a container for memory rather than permission.
