Thomas Lupo’s grandfather opened the American Wood Column Corporation in Williamsburg 110 years ago, turning out mouldings, balusters, corbels and columns for a city that kept building. Filmmaker Joshua Charrow’s documentary walks the Brooklyn factory one final time, past roughly 6,000 handmade moulds — many reverse-carved, some over two centuries old — racked against the walls. It is a portrait of a craft economy closing, told through the objects that outlasted everyone who used them.
