Vancouver artist Jennifer Latour builds sculptural assemblages in which single flowers or small clusters of blooms sprout from tree branches and thick stems, standing in the landscape like otherworldly forms. The works are so precarious that a soft breeze can scatter them before she photographs them — “the wind is my nemesis”, she says. Begun during lockdown from objects found around her home, the Bound Species series treats ikebana as a study in impermanence.
