The Haas Brothers: ‘Uncanny Valley’ — Fifteen Years of Figurative Furniture and Cheeky Creatures

Twins Nikolai and Simon Haas bring their first mid-career survey to the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, the city they grew up in, filling the galleries with figurative furniture, plush cartoonish characters, glowing installations and fantastical flora and fauna. The title is borrowed from robotics, where a dose of cuteness makes a humanoid object easier to love — the same pull between charm and unease that runs through fifteen years of their work. On view through January 17 before it travels to the Mint Museum in Charlotte. Source: Colossal
