The Last Museum: A Search Engine for 290,000 Artists Across 4,903 Museums

Built by anonymous creators and billed as the largest search engine for museum art, The Last Museum indexes works by more than 290,000 artists held across 4,903 institutions and representing 304 cultures and nationalities. Much of it sits in the public domain — a 19th-century Lakota beaded bag, thousands of Etruscan artifacts, objects spanning millennia from Germany to Egypt. Every entry links back to the holding collection.
