The Chips co-founder behind the title sequences for Barbie, Weapons and Robert Eggers’ forthcoming Werwulf walks through how his lettering actually gets made. Blanks started doing titles for Lena Dunham’s student shorts at Oberlin, carried the collaboration through Tiny Furniture, and co-founded the Williamsburg studio Chips in 2009. The piece is unusually specific about sources — the props, symbols and medieval manuscript pages that end up buried inside the letterforms.
