Amsterdam studio Thonik built Phion Symphony Orchestra’s identity around Grilli Type’s GT Planar, a variable-angle sans-serif whose continuous slant axis spans a full 90 degrees. The letterforms bend and lean the way a conductor’s baton does, letting the system shift to match the atmosphere of each concert while staying recognisably one voice. “GT Planar has details that only appear when you slant it,” says designer Falco van Burg.
