“Made in Germany” and “Swiss Made” became shorthand for craftsmanship and precision; Europe as a whole never got the same shorthand, despite manufacturing under some of the world’s strictest standards for safety, environmental protection and traceability. Copenhagen think tank 21st Europe worked with Dada Projects on Made in Europe, a certification concept unveiled at Web Summit in Lisbon that pairs a certification mark with a Digital Product Passport. It is an attempt to move that value out of audit trails and onto the shelf.
