W Conran Design has rebuilt the identity of Monoprix, the French retail chain founded in 1932 and now running around 736 stores, drawing on Art Nouveau, popular poster art and mass-market graphic design rather than the usual supermarket vocabulary. The system spans a redrawn logo, a reinvented pattern, proprietary iconography, original illustrations and a confident colour palette, applied from carrier bag to storefront to app. What makes it land is the restraint about what not to change: the brand’s "Pop" apostrophe and its pop-culture instincts are amplified rather than replaced.
