Swedish photographer Björn Persson has collected a decade of wildlife work into a new Rizzoli monograph that ranges from the Tanzanian grasslands below Kilimanjaro to the shifting ice of Antarctica. His bold tonal portraiture swings between the theatrical — running giraffes, a bison held stoic in profile — and the quietly domestic, as a lioness plays with her cubs or a coalition of cheetahs settles on a knoll. Many of the animals meet the lens directly, which turns the act of looking into something closer to being watched.
