The Dallas-based artist builds intricate geometric reliefs from meticulously cut wooden panels, semi-precious beads, and layered thread and cordage. Iqbal draws on a background in product design and illustration, and on her Pakistani heritage — pairing wood, which she associates with building, against fibre and beadwork. The results read as chromatic meditations on pattern, craft and ancestry rather than as reproductions of the architecture that prompted them.
