‘MIZU’ Contemplates Fragility and Impermanence in a Poignant Dance with an Ice Puppet

In the ephemeral performance ‘MIZU,’ a sculpture of frozen water takes the form of a woman who melts across the course of the piece — an emotive meditation on memory, time, and impermanence. The work is a collaboration between puppeteer-director Élise Vigneron’s Théâtre de L’entrouvert and choreographer Satchie Noro’s Compagnie Furankaï, pairing ice puppetry with circus and dance to highlight the fragility of our existence.
