Satoshi Kondo of MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO turned his attention away from Issey Miyake’s famously pleated garments and toward what came off the machine alongside them — wafer-thin paper, compressed into rolls and bound for the bin. The result is The Paper Log: Shell and Core, a Milan Design Week 2026 exhibition that treats a production by-product as the protagonist, asking what else gets discarded inside processes we already think we understand.
