ScanLAB Projects used time-lapse 3D scanning across 21 sites in Phoenix’s Salt River Valley — compressing a full year of desert change into seconds, with frame rates ranging from 17 to 25 days per second of real-world time. Four monumental outdoor video installations and an immersive indoor experience at Phoenix’s Desert Botanical Garden make cactus growth, wildfire recovery, and the slow death of a 200-year-old saguaro visible as cinema. A carbon-neutral commission that holds human consumption and ecological resilience in the same frame — equal parts mirror and microscope. Source: Cool Hunting
